AMAZON URUCUM RED

Urucum — My mind immediately returned to those stunning pictures of the indigenous people of the Amazon from grandpa’s National Geographic magazines, some with a thick horizontal orangey-red stripe across their eye line, some with geometric patterns, or full faces, and some with their entire bodies painted. If the Amazon was the obvious first stop on our journey, Urucum was the obvious first pigment.
