The Artist:
My name is Christopher Dulin. I am an abstract painter traveling the world full-time in search of ancient pigments. I live with and learn from the tribes and people groups who have used these pigments for thousands of years in their spiritual practices, ritual body painting, art, and textile dying.
While living with each of these remarkable tribes, I am taught how to collect and process pigments properly and with the deepest respect to their land, their ancestors, their deities and spirits, as well as themselves.
Because of these extraordinary experiences, each color, whether botanical or mineral, is precious. My painting process, however, is not. It is a deliberate attempt to remove my hand, my vision, my voice, my ego from the resulting piece. If I am successful, all that shows is the pigment itself, its origin, history, and profound relationship within the indigenous people who have used it for millennia.
